The idea of highpointing is for one to endeavor to hike the highest point in each American state. Highpointing is not exclusive to the highest point in America or any one country actually; there are many ways to approach the effort. For example, one might create a goal of hiking the highest point on each continent (referred to as the Seven Summits) or the highest point in each country.

For me personally, I am focusing on the highest point in each American state. I unofficially started this goal back in 2012 and became serious about it in 2019. So far, I have completed or have a plan to complete the following highest point hikes:

Documenting More Than Hiking

Since hiking the highest point in each state typically requires a lot of planning and travel, I decided to diversify the subject matter at highpointer.us with a mix of outdoor activities, as seen in the menu above. I’ll write about the different experiences from a raw, first-person vantage point to not only document the experience for myself but to hopefully inspire you to head outdoors and wrestle with mother nature yourself.
